This week has been something of a whirlwind to say the least. The holidays are upon us, and what a great time of year it is. We are so close to the end of the year and the start of a new one which is also exciting, but for me I have a few projects to wrap up before the year is out. Custom orders to deliver and lots of exciting plans for the new year. Having launched our Surplus line earlier this month, I am excited for the big plans we have ahead for that line in 2024. We for sure will not be resting on our laurels, as we have some exciting partnerships in the works for that. This year has had many highs and some lows as well like any year, but I really feel the foundation and platform has been set in place for a big 2024, which I am very excited about.
But more about this week. My favorite sport, Rugby League, came to town, well to Vegas that is. So I hopped on a last-minute flight straight from the Beverly Center and headed to Sin City for the launch event. I’m not gonna lie; I was a little bit dusty the whole day as I had 4-5 hours sleep, but it was a great kick off to the start of the NRL invasion on America and something I was honored to be a part of. Rugby League in America has a lot of work to do to say the least, but with such a big market over here, if they stay the course and do the right things I think it can be a success and a great opportunity to showcase the game I love and the game I grew up playing. My goal as a kid and all through high school, and even after, was to be a professional Rugby League player. I dedicated myself to it like you wouldn’t believe, and that same level of hard work and dedication is now evident in the work I do in fashion. Rugby League was a good foundation for me to succeed in life, so to have the sport come to my now-adopted home of America is somewhat of a dream.
After Vegas, it was back to LA and straight back into the thick of the action. Custom orders, kids' school drop-offs and another hosting event for the NRL in Santa Monica followed by a great Italian meal. Breaking bread with fellow Aussies that made the trip over and some expats now living in LA, as well as some locals and friends. It was a last minute get-together but was a fun experience all the same.
The next day was followed by a store visit from some of the players before they hit the Rams training and a Clippers game. Exciting to see Rugby League and the NRL here in America. I wish them all the success and am happy to contribute to the motion of making it a success and winning over some die hard sports fans here in America!
