The Sunday Paper: The Basics

Before I started Daniel Patrick, my wardrobe consisted of a lot of basics. I was always in search of the perfect basic, and I uniquely brought them to life in my own way through either cutting the sleeves or layering them for different looks. I understood the value of a good basic from this time. And when I started the brand, I didn’t want our basics to be merely an afterthought but the very foundation that the outfit was built upon and the very foundation that our business was built upon as well.
The key to a good basic is very simple, great fabric that we mill here in Los Angeles and then garment dyed to give it that unique and luxurious feel that only a garment dyed garment can achieve. The next thing is quality construction also sewn right here in LA, so we can stay on top of the quality. It also gives us the advantage to make small adjustments to each batch as we see fit. And of course the garments have to fit well and wash and wear with ease. I think ours tick both of those boxes as well. We also like to have that level of minimalism that still allows a logo-less basic product like ours to be recognized and differentiated when worn, despite being devoid of branding. We achieve this through our silhouettes, as well as our center seams front and back that have adorned many of our products from day one. From our Gym Tank to Standard Tee and our Surplus Hoodie, these are just a few of our key basic items that I personally love, and judging by the orders and re-orders, our community loves as well.
