The Sunday Paper: Happy Holidays

As the holidays are upon us, it is a good time to stop and reflect on the great year that has passed. Sure, there were some struggles like any year, but many great things occurred too. And as we look into the future, we get a shot to make the next year even better, and that is what I intend to do. Although my family is in Australia and as much as I would love to be there with them this year, I will see them all in the new year and I do have my wife and kids to spend this beautiful time of year with. But I hope to spend a Christmas back home one of these years. Growing up in Australia, Christmas was in the middle of summer with 90 degree temperatures and BBQs and the day spent by the pool, which may sound odd but for me it’s what I knew and what I loved. I miss those big family gatherings and choosing the right gift that was both useful and thoughtful for my family members. Maybe next year we will do it again, as I want my kids to enjoy that experience too. Although, nothing beats being at home over the holidays too, and by that, I mean here in LA. And it’s not like it is snowy cold here either, so it is not too far off from the Aussie experience, minus my extended family of course. A snowy Christmas like we see in the movies would also be fun to experience at some time in the future as well.
