The Sunday Paper: Grooming

Grooming I feel is an extension of one’s outfit. I think about fashion and style in a sense holistically. Taking care of your health through diet and exercise can have a profound effect on how clothes look on you and how you feel in the clothes too. Grooming is no different. Especially in an age of laid back and relaxed and cozy fits, grooming can have a large effect on how a fit looks. Taking pride in one’s appearance is a beautiful thing. You look good, you feel good, you do good. I believe grooming to be a pillar of one’s outfit. Grooming of course can be as basic as showering, which doesn’t even need to be said I guess is the first place to start. I also always feel my best after getting a fresh haircut. And any time I have something special like a date night with my wife or a trip or an NBA game to go to, if time permits I line up a fresh cut. Otherwise I trim it myself at times, which I have gotten pretty decent at over the past couple years. Although I still prefer a trip to the barber. Another area to consider is proper hydration, which is key to feeling good and looking good. So I always make sure I drink plenty of water, especially with it being so hot and dry in Southern California. As for grooming and skincare, it doesn’t need to be complex. Especially for guys, it can be quite simple.

So with that said, here are some of my favorite products that I use regularly to help me to look and feel my best:

Le Labo Santal 33 – I am not big on overbearing scents, but this one for me is subtle especially if you don’t overdo it.

Patricks ND1 – I usually don’t like a scented deodorant, but this deodorant has a scent so good that you basically don’t even need a cologne. And it works. A lot of natural deodorants I have tried never really work, and I end up having to go for the aluminum type, but this one works as stated. Plus I love the packaging, which is a huge plus for me.

Patricks AM1 Moisturizer – A great lightweight moisturizer with a nice scent that you can use day and night.

Patricks S2 Hair Product – I have been using this for years. It has great hold and just the right amount of shine. It smells great too and doesn’t leave you feeling oily.

Essentia Water – I have been drinking this water for years, and honestly I find it just goes down so easily and works well.

Phillips Sonicare – Oral care is important, and this toothbrush looks good too.
