The Sunday Paper: Artistry is Simplicity

I’m a huge believer that artistry is simplicity. If we look at some stellar examples of this, you can see that Apple design wise is all about simplicity and minimalism, and to me they have some of the most beautiful designs in the world today. Even Tesla abides by this principle, stripping their vehicles of the unnecessary in favor of simplicity and making life easier. There is a point where something can be too over designed just for the sake of it, and I believe that keeping things simple in a meaningful way can be both functional and beautiful. Focusing on the small details that may be overlooked by the casual observer but are seen by a keen eye for detail is how simplicity communicates. It communicates through subtlety.

The Sunday Paper: Artistry is Simplicity

For me, that’s how I approach design. A minimalistic approach that is all about the details and heavy on simplicity. Take Nordic interior design for example, highly minimalistic and functional yet warm and inviting. I take my cues from these examples and try to live my life by these principles. Less is more in my opinion, and sometimes shedding the unnecessary can be quite therapeutic for me in a way. So in summary, keep it simple and let the subtle details speak for themselves.
